Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3700 North Sam Houston Parkway East

July 27, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3700 North Sam Houston Parkway East service road that occurred about 5:50 a.m. today.  

The identity of the male victim, 51, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer J. Campbell reported:  

The victim was driving a black Ford F-350 pickup truck at a high rate of speed eastbound on the Sam Houston Parkway service road and ran the red light at the intersection with John F. Kennedy Boulevard.  The Ford then struck a silver Nissan Sentra traveling northbound on John F. Kennedy Boulevard and the impact pushed the Nissan into several sign poles and then a white Ford Expedition. 

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The female driver of the Expedition sustained possible minor injuries.  The male driver, 25, of the pickup truck was detained at the scene and was questioned and released, pending results of a mandatory blood draw.  

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
