June 1, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 12700 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 2 a.m. on Sunday (May 30).

The identities of the two deceased victims are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer R. Singleton reported:

An HPD patrol officer observed a white Dodge Challenger traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on the East Freeway.  The officer activated his emergency lights for approximately 10 seconds in an effort to get the driver to slow down.  However, the driver accelerated and went out of view for a few seconds, before losing control and colliding with a four-door Toyota sedan, a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a white Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The Toyota burst into flames.  The driver was rescued by witnesses.  However, two passengers inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene.  The male driver, 60, of the Dodge Challenger and occupants in the Ford and Dodge Ram were transported to area hospitals in stable condition.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.  Currently, there are no charges in this incident, as the investigation is continuing.
