Investigation into Shooting Incidents at 300 West Greens Road and 2200 West Dallas Street

June 21, 2021 - A male suspect wanted in the shooting of two females at 2200 West Dallas Street about 2 a.m. on Sunday (June 20) was wounded by Houston police officers after he fired shots at officers in the 300 block of West Greens Road about 5:40 p.m. on Sunday (June 20).

The suspect, 27, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.  He faces numerous felony charges in both incidents.

HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant J. Hekimian, Detective B. Elliott and Officers N. Arellano, T. Vaca and C. Walker reported:

The suspect drove to the apartment of a Harris County Precinct 1 Constable deputy in the 2200 block of West Dallas.  The male was wearing body armor and was armed with several weapons.  Once he arrived, the suspect placed a shotgun against the window and discharged it several times into the apartment.  He then went in to the apartment through the back glass patio door.  The deputy, his girlfriend and his infant child were in the room.  The deputy retrieved his handgun and discharged his weapon at the suspect.  At that time, the girlfriend and three kids had retreated to the kitchen area when the suspect continued to shoot at them.  The deputy made it to the front door and discharged his weapon at the suspect.  During the exchange of gunfire, the girlfriend and her four-year-old daughter were struck.  Once the front door was opened, the girlfriend and kids were able to escape out of the apartment.  The deputy, girlfriend and kids went to another apartment where residents let them seek refuge.

The suspect left the scene.  The girlfriend and child were transported to a hospital in stable condition. Investigators had charges filed on the suspect for two counts of burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit aggravated assault and one count of burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit injury to a child.  Some time later in the day, HPD SWAT officers located the suspect driving a black vehicle in the 300 block of West Greens Road.  The officers attempted to stop the suspect when he discharged a weapon at them.  The SWAT officers returned fire and the suspect fled in his vehicle.  The officers stopped the suspect a second time and, during that encounter, there was another exchange of gunfire.  The suspect was wounded multiple times and then transported to the hospital.  No officers were injured.

As is customary in officer-involved shooting incidents in the city limits, both incidents are being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit, the Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
