Investigation into Shooting at 12500 North Freeway

June 25, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 12500 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 5:50 p.m. on Thursday (June 24).

The victim, Policarpo Martinez, Jr., 34, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Merino and C. Johnson reported:

Mr. Martinez was in his vehicle traveling eastbound on West Airtex Boulevard and attempted to turn southbound onto the North Freeway service road when a male in a black Chrysler 300 cut him off.  Martinez maneuvered his vehicle around the Chrysler and onto the service road and, as he entered the freeway main lanes, he saw the suspect following behind him.

When the suspect vehicle caught up to Martinez, a suspect then rolled down the right passenger side window and fired several shots at Martinez, striking him in the left side of his abdomen.  Martinez stopped his vehicle and called 9-1-1.   The driver of the Chrysler fled and continued toward the North Sam Houston Parkway ramps.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Martinez to the hospital.
