March 17, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 2048 Wirt Road about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday (March 16).

The victim, Nakona Wheeler, 24, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives J. Roberts and E. Neal reported:

As a female was claiming items from her repossessed vehicle at a business at the above address, a disturbance occurred that led to a male suspect leaning out of the vehicle and firing a gunshot at an employee at the business.  The bullet missed the intended male target and struck Mr. Wheeler in the lower back.  

The suspect, described only as a black male in his 20s, fled the scene in a red Nissan Altima.
