Traffic Incident at 7400 Katy Freeway

May 6, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 7400 block of the Katy Freeway service road about 2:30 a.m. today (May 6).

The identity of the female victim, in her 20s, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer Y.K. Wood reported:

The driver of a late-model Ford Expedition traveling eastbound on the service road at a high rate of speed lost control of her vehicle and struck a concrete retaining wall, which caused the vehicle to roll over several times. The driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Her female passenger was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in an undetermined condition. Toxicology test will determine if alcohol was a factor in the accident. It appears no other vehicles were involved.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Shooting at 8200 Street

March 22, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a male at 8200 Wheately Street that occurred about 12 p.m. on Saturday (March 20).

The victim, Jose Lopez, 20, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer L. Hicks reported:

Mr. Lopez stated he pulled into traffic in front of  a white Chevrolet pickup truck.  The driver of the truck (suspect) then pursued Lopez in a road rage incident, following Lopez onto Wheatley Street.  The suspect then discharged his firearm multiple times at the victim.  The victim, who was struck in the head, drove himself the HPD North Patrol Station at 9455 West Montgomery.  He was then transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital b in stable condition.
