Investigation into Shooting at 5300 Washington Avenue

November 01, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of two men that occurred at 5300 Washington Avenue about 3:10 a.m. today (November 1).

The victims, Francisco Garza, 29, and Lewis Alvarado, 20, were transported to area hospital.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Merino and C. Johnson reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a gas station at the corner of Shepherd Drive and Westheimer Road.  Upon arrival, officers found Mr. Garza with a gunshot wound the head and Mr. Alvarado with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.  Paramedics transported both victims to the hospital.  Garza was in critical condition and Alvarado in stable condition.  

Further investigation determined the men were in a vehicle driving eastbound on Washington Avenue after leaving a bar where a physical altercation had occurred.  As they drove on Washington Avenue, someone inside another vehicle began to shoot at the victims' vehicle multiple times, striking two of the three occupants in the vehicle.  The suspect vehicle, described only as a white sedan, fled in an unknown direction.
