Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8900 Coffee Street

November 08, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8900 Coffee Street about 9:30 p.m. last Friday (November 5).  

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer J. Hill reported:  

HPD patrol officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a green Dodge Charger in the 4600 block of Wilmington Street.  The driver refused to stop and evaded police at a high rate of speed.  Officers activated their emergency equipment and initiated a vehicle pursuit.  After a very brief pursuit, the driver crashed into a tree on the northbound side of Coffee Street.  The driver was ejected and the Charger came to a stop against a red Chevrolet pickup truck.  The driver of the Charger was pronounced deceased.  No one else was injured.  

The investigation is continuing.
