September 26, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 3700 South Gessner Road about 6:30 p.m. last Friday (September 23).  

The suspect, Eddie La, 19, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 179th State District Court.  A booking photo of La is attached to this news release.  

The identity of the female victim, 52, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer M. Keita reported:  

A Honda Accord, driven by La, was traveling southbound near the above address when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pedestrian on the sidewalk.  The Honda continued traveling and came to a stop after striking a Toyota Tacoma stopped at a a red light.  Houston Fire Department paramedics were called and pronounced the victim deceased.  

La was detained at the scene and determined to be impaired.  He was subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
