Officers in Action

Officer Nelson and Officer Jefferson

Recently, Officer Nelson and Officer Jefferson responded to a “Loud Noise Disturbance” call. Upon arrival it became apparent that the loud noise was the result of a family disturbance between boyfriend and girlfriend. The girlfriend came to the door with a bruised upper lip and scratches on her neck. She told the officers that her boyfriend was beating on her and that there was a large amount of drugs and guns inside the apartment. The boyfriend was found inside the apartment and taken into custody without incident. It was soon discovered during the initial investigation that various quantities of drugs and guns were inside the apartment. Because of the quantity of narcotics throughout the apartment, a drug dog was called to the scene to assist with the search.

The narcotics recovered included the following; several pounds of Marijuana, large amounts of Cocaine, Xanax, Ecstasy, Black Tar Heroin, Codeine and Methamphetamine. The two guns recovered were two semi-automatic pistols, which led to the “Felon in Possession of a Firearm” charge against the boyfriend as well the several Felony charges for drug possession, and other charges on both individuals.

The preliminary investigation conducted by Officer Nelson and Officer Jefferson was outstanding and the teamwork exhibited by fellow officers Castille, Foster and Brown was exemplary.

HPD would like to commend these officers for their excellent work and the great credit they bring to themselves, their Divisions, and the Houston Police Department.
