Officers in Action

Officers L. Laureano and J. Obenhaus

Recently, Officers L. Laureano and J. Obenhaus were on routine patrol when they heard a Robbery call drop at a nearby bank. The officers quickly responded and started heading to the location when a vehicle description was given by the dispatcher.

The officers diligently searched the area and were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle. They quickly advised other responding units of the vehicle’s location. The officers performed a felony stop with the assistance of the backup units once they arrived.

Four armed bank robbery suspects were taken into custody without incident. Several loaded pistols were recovered along with over $135,000 in cash that had just been taken from the bank.

These robbery suspects all had long violent criminal histories including several aggravated robbery convictions and at least one murder conviction among them.

The quick actions of these two officers, along with the officers who backed them up during the arrest, led to the capture and arrest of four armed and dangerous suspects. These suspects not only robbed the bank but also assaulted individuals inside the bank during the robbery and showed a total disregard for human life.

HPD would like to commend these officers for a job well done.
