HOUSTON'S SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT PROVIDES FLOOD VICTIMS RELIEF
August 17, 2007 - The City of Houston 's Solid Waste Management Department is currently providing flood victims relief as a result of yesterday's torrential rains by providing large (40-60 cubic yard) roll-off containers to dispose of their flood-damaged belongings.
If your area was affected by the flood where items have become water-logged and need disposal, please call 3-1-1 and make the request. Be sure to notify the call-taker that the container is needed for flood-damaged belongings.
Additionally, the Solid Waste Management Department offers residents, four neighborhood depositories to dispose of heavy trash and recyclables. This service is for City of Houston residents only. Waste from businesses will NOT be accepted so that as many residents can utilize these facilities as possible. These drop-off sites are open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am - 7pm.
