December 18, 2007 - The City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) in partnership with Keep Houston Beautiful (KHB) and DRC, Inc. will help spread holiday cheer with a donation of 22 bicycles to 11 boys and 11 girls between the ages of 8-12. The distribution of bicycles to a child or agency will be on Friday, December 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Keep Houston Beautiful building, 3000 Richmond Avenue .
SWMD Director Harry Hayes said, "There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the smile of a child.We are pleased to join our partners in giving away these bikes to these Houston children." KHB Director Robin Blut said, "We offer our deepest gratitude to the individuals and organizations that raised funds to make the holiday season a little brighter for a family in need." Houston City Council Members were asked to identify a family or agency to award one bicycle in their name.
