CITY OF HOUSTON AND RADIO DISNEY AM 1590 AM 1590 AM 1590 JOIN FORCES TO EDUCATE STUDENTS ABOUT RECYCLING
April 22, 2008 - During Earth Month, The City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department and Radio Disney AM 1590 are teaming up to educate students about recycling and conserving the environment. Eight schools were selected from Houston , Alief and Spring Independent School Districts . The programs are 45 minutes in length and feature The Green Team and the Solid Waste Management Department mascot, Resusette Wisely.
Laura Pena, Radio Disney AM 1590's Promotional Manager, stated, "We are putting entertainment into education. We want our youth to know what we can do to take action now."
Solid Waste Management Department Director Harry Hayes said, "We are pleased to partner with Radio Disney AM 1590 to spread the word about recycling. Targeting students with the environmental messages goes a long way. We have found that through education they begin to recycle and also strongly urge their parents to do their part."
