Solid Waste Management Department requests residents to hold their recyclables until Hurricane Ike passes
September 12, 2008
The City of Houston is requesting that residents NOT bring recyclables to recycling drop-off sites or neighborhood depositories since materials to these locations may cause scattering. The City is requesting residents hold their recyclables at home until Hurricane Ike passes.
“We are extremely concerned with these recyclables being scattered, especially at the Ellington Field location. We want to reduce potential airfield hazards,” said Harry Hayes, Solid Waste Management Department Director.
Additionally, the Solid Waste Management Department would like to remind residents to properly secure their garbage can and/or recycling bin or place in their garage.
