GARBAGE COLLECTION RESUMES:
SWMD Employees Should Report To Work On Monday

September 14, 2008 -- The City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) will resume normal garbage and heavy trash collection operations on Monday, September 15, 2008. We will collect Monday's garbage, heavy trash and yard trimmings collection services where it is possible to do so,” said Harry Hayes, Solid Waste Management Department Director.

The Solid Waste Management Department is currently assisting the Fire Department with rescue missions. Additionally, the Solid Waste Management Department will assist the Public Works and Engineering Department with Phase I responsibilities of clearing materials from the right-of-way.

Beginning Tuesday, September 16th, SWMD will open its neighborhood depositories 7 days a week to accommodate the additional storm debris from Houston residents. Hours of operations will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Solid Waste Management Department employees should report to work on Monday, September 15th.
