October 20, 2008 -- The City of Houston’s 3-1-1 Helpline performed a preliminary customer service survey to determine the satisfaction level of residents with the storm debris removal efforts after Hurricane Ike. A huge majority of the citizens who were interviewed were extremely pleased.
The survey was conducted on October 8 and 9, 2008 to residents in the Memorial, Third Ward, and Westbury areas. “We randomly selected and called more than 590 potential participants and were able to successfully interview 176 residents,” reported Gloria Bingham, 3-1-1 Helpline Director. Eighty-six percent (86%) of those surveyed had already received an initial pass and were pleased with the service rendered.
Solid Waste Management Department Director Harry Hayes said, “I requested this preliminary survey to be conducted so that our department can benchmark City forces and our contractor’s performance after the storm.” Hayes added, “We are also requesting that residents go to our website (www.houstonsolidwaste.org or http://www.houstontx.gov/solidwaste/stormdebrissurvey.html directly) and complete the customer satisfaction survey so we can obtain further and continued feedback. We thank everyone for the patience as we work to get Houston back to normal.”
