The Mayor’s Office of Special Events not only produces timeless, family focused events, the office permits and partners with other remarkable events in the city. The Art Car Parade celebrated their 30th anniversary in April 2017 and the Mayor’s Office of Special Events, along with our friends at KTRK/ABC13 Houston were there to capture the entire event! Civic celebration has been a major contributor in helping to establish a sense of community in the most diverse city in the nation. Emancipation Park Rededication and Juneteenth Celebration

Join City of Houston, Houston Parks Department and Project Partners on Saturday, June 17th and Monday, June 19th 2017 at 10:00am - 5:00pm on both dates. Rededication Program is on June 17th at 11:00 a.m. Emancipation Park, 3018 Emancipation Avenue, formerly Dowling street.

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department invites you to join Mayor Sylvester Turner, the OST/Almeda Redevelopment Authority-Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 7, the Emancipation Park Conservancy, and HPARD staff for the grand rededication of this historic park on Saturday, June 17, 2017! Emancipation Park is located in the Third Ward at 3018 Emancipation Avenue (formerly Dowling Street) 77004.

Mayor Sylvester Turner's Annual Acres Homes Juneteenth Parade

Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth in Acres Homes. Mayor Sylvester Turner’s Annual Acres Homes Juneteenth Parade (.pdf) will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.

The parade will begin at the Acres Homes Multi-Service Center  located at 6719 W. Montgomery, proceed north on W. Montgomery,  west on Dolly Wright and conclude at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church (1620 Dolly Wright).

We are now accepting parade entry applications. NO FEES ARE REQUIRED.

Application deadline is June 2nd

Please thoroughly read application for participant guidelines and rules.

Only PRE-REGISTERED entries will be allowed to participate on event day.
