Vision Zero for Houston is a commitment to end traffic-related deaths and serious injuries among all road users in the City by 2030. It prioritizes safety and accessibility in street design for people of all ages and abilities. It requires collaboration and leadership to improve mobility through engineering, enforcement, education, evaluation, and equity. Vision Zero Houston is a comprehensive and holistic approach to safer streets that supports the common good and enhances the quality of life for all Houstonians.
The Vision Zero Executive Committee held its first meeting on Tuesday, October 15th, bringing together City Department directors and agency leaders to collaborate and coordinate on a Vision Zero Houston strategy. Members discussed the need to align existing efforts and think unconstrained to generate new ideas that improve street safety for all road users. Members were charged with nominating staff, experts, and advocates to the Vision Zero Task Force and Data and Communications Subcommittee. A list of Executive Committee members can be found here and the organizational structure can be found here.
