October 19, 2012 Vote to Help BARC Win the ASPCA $100K Challenge's $25,000
Community Engagement Award Through October 31 There are less than two weeks left in the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge and it's officially crunch time. Follow these steps to cast your vote (Note that you can only use a computer to vote - you cannot use a smart phone or tablet): 1. Visit https://votetosavelives.org (this will take you to the voting page on Facebook). It's that easy! Every vote moves BARC closer to winning the $25,000 grant, which would go toward growing BARC's adoption program to include larger and more frequent offsite adoptions events and much more. The only way BARC can win is for you - Houston's community - to vote and get others involved. Please forward this email to your friends, family and colleagues to help spread the word. BARC has found permanent homes for 1,479 dogs and cats so far in the $100K Challenge. The shelter's staff volunteers and supporters are still working to reach 2,100 dog and cat adoptions before October 31, so BARC has planned tons of adoption events and activities over the next two weeks to help reach the goal. On Saturday, October 20, 2012 BARC is having an Adoption Rally with the Houston Texans Cheerleaders at BARC, 3200 Carr Street, Houston 77026. The cheerleaders will be at BARC to take photos and sign autographs from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. You don't want to miss this! After you meet and greet the Texans Cheerleaders, check out the hundreds of puppies, kittens, dogs and cats that are ready to go home with their new family. BARC's facility will be open for adoptions from noon to 6 p.m. Plus, Name-Your-Own-Adoption-Fee for all cats and dogs 6 months and older, or adopt a puppy for $20 or a kitten for $10. This offer is only valid at the shelter. See below for a flyer about this Saturday's event at BARC: BARC will also have animals available for adoption at the community-wide PetFest Old Town Spring Saturday, October 20 and Sunday, October 21. The adoption fees will be $20 for dogs and $10 for cats. Visit Petfestoldtownspring.com to learn more about the times and location of the event.
