Scheduled Bellaire Construction Halted During the Holidays

In observance of the Holiday Season, including the Lunar New Year, the Bellaire Street Reconstruction Project (from Fondren to just west of Beltway 8) will take a pre-planned hiatus, suspending construction activity from Saturday, December 15, 2012 to Monday, February 18, 2013.

The contractor, as planned, will completely demobilize all equipment and motorists will only see silt fencing in the construction zones to address possible soil erosion in the area.

All lanes of traffic, including turn lanes and entrances to all shops in the area will be open during this dormant period. In the westbound direction it will appear that there is an extra lane of travel. The public is advised to follow traffic laws and not cross into the yellow striped lines on the asphalt pavement.

Motorists and pedestrians be aware that even though Bellaire Boulevard construction is dormant, it is still a construction zone and everyone needs to use caution as they travel through the area. The public is encouraged to call 3-1-1 to report any problems related to this city project. 3-1-1 has the capacity to assist in several languages, upon request, including Chinese, Korean, Spanish and Vietnamese.

For more information about the project, visit the Bellaire Street Reconstruction website www.bellaireconstructionproject.com.
