Celebrate Disability Awareness Month in October!

Festivities promote "Awareness and Advocacy"

The City of Houston Department of Neighborhoods and community partners invite Houstonians to celebrate Disability Awareness Month in October. The national celebration raises public awareness of the rights, concerns and contributions of Americans with disabilities. This year's theme is "Awareness and Advocacy."

Several events are scheduled throughout the month, including, "White Cane Safety Day at City Hall" taking place October 14 and the Lex Frieden Employment Awards scheduled for October 27.  Most events are free and open to the public.
