Celebrate Disability Awareness Month in October!
Festivities celebrate ADA's 25th anniversary,
highlight the rights and accomplishments of people with disabilities
The City of Houston Department of Neighborhoods and community partners invite Houstonians to celebrate Disability Awareness Month in October commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The month-long celebration features a series of public events intended to raise awareness of the rights and accomplishments of people with disabilities. This year's theme is "My disability is one part of who I am." The festivities also highlight the impact that the ADA has made on the lives of citizens with disabilities.
Most of the events are free while some require a nominal fee. For calendar of events updates, call 832.394.0814 or visit https://www.houstontx.gov/disabilities.
