CITGO Freedom Over Texas July 4th Celebration
Please join the city of Houston’s CITGO Freedom Over Texas July 4th Celebration as we recognize America’s freedom and the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing!
The event on Thursday, July 4, from 4 to 10 p.m. in Buffalo Bayou Park near downtown, will feature live music, fireworks, a children’s play area and a Space City Experience from NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
The signature area will include an opportunity to be up close and personal with astronauts, robotic demonstrations, virtual reality fieldtrips to the International Space Station, the Space Exploration Vehicle (SEV), NASA’s Destination Station, and other NASA assets and activities.
The musical entertainment headliner is multiple chart-topping singer/songwriter, Jake Owen.
General admission tickets are available online at FreedomOverTexas.org for $8 per person until midnight, Wednesday, July 3, 2019 (children 5 and under are free with a paid adult). On Thursday, July 4, tickets will be $10 online and at gate admission booths.
Download the special, free “MOSECOH” (Mayor’s Office of Special Events – City of Houston) phone app to navigate through the largest Fourth of July Celebration in the state. It offers patrons a way to buy tickets and view performance schedules and maps, parking tips and other helpful hints to enhance the experience!
Jake Owen has been an American Country Music fan favorite since his breakout album, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night”, which landed at #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and garnered four consecutive #1 hits. Originally from Florida, Jake’s unique sound, and songwriting helped win him the 2009 Academy of Country Music Top New Male Vocalist award and the 2012 American Country Award’s win for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Owen’s new single “Down To The Honkytonk” is rapidly climbing the Billboard Country Airplay charts on his new album, “Greetings from Jake.”
Special musical guest on the Main Stage is country music artist, actress and television personality, Kellie Pickler.
Three Houston child prodigies who make up the band, Los Luzerosde Rio Verde, will also perform on the Main Stage.
As is tradition, the evening will conclude with a spectacular blast of fireworks thanks to CITGO, which has provided the finale since 2015. This is the third year that CITGO has been the dual sponsor of the pyrotechnics and the event title.
