Haiti Earthquake Disaster - How You Can Help

Words cannot express the pain in my heart for those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. My prayers and thoughts are with them.

There are many opportunities available for those wanting to assist with the immediate relief effort. You can donate to the Red Cross here: Contribute online to the Red Cross, or donate $10 to be charged to your cell phone bill by texting "HAITI" to "90999." More ways to help are available through the Center for International Disaster Information. (Please be patient, so many people are wanting to help that this site is taking awhile to load.) This same information is listed on the White House web site.

These organizations are working in cooperation with the military and other agencies to coordinate the federal relief effort. They are the ones with the mechanisms in place to take donations at this time.

Families of Americans living in Haiti are encouraged to contact the State Department at 888-407-4747.

Respectfully,

Annise D. Parker
Mayor
