The City of Houston Wants You Back in Your Home!

We are here to help you determine how best to Rebuild/Repair after the recent floods.

All situations are unique. Call 832.394.8854 or go to www.houstonrecovers.org to explore all your options.

If you have received or a receive at a later date a Letter of Substantial Damage from the City of Houston Floodplain Management Office (FMO), it does not mean you cannot rebuild or repair your home.  It simply means you must submit information about your individual situation/damages to the FMO before proceeding.  Please contact a representative of the FMO by phone at 832-394-8854, by email at FMO@houstontx.gov or in person at the Houston Permitting Center at 1002 Washington Avenue.  In addition to its regular 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekday business hours, the FMO will be open until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, until further notice.  The City also has liaisons stationed at FEMA's two mobile recovery sites.

A Floodplain Development Permit will be required only if your house is in the floodplain and

  • the total cost to repair your house to pre-damage condition is more than $10, 000, or
  • the total cost of repairs is 50% or more than the pre-damage market value of your house (not including land).

DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACTS FOR REPAIRS UNTIL YOU CONTACT
