Hurricane Recovery Neighborhood Needs

Hurricane Graphic

Hurricane season is in full swing as Hurricane Dorian churns on the East Coast. Houston and the surrounding areas are working hard to protect our residents from future storms, but we need your help.

The Rice University Flood Research Team  has completed nearly 5,000 interviews with Houston residents about their support for different types of flood mitigation projects as described in the City of Houston’s SWAT program.  They identified several attributes of the projects planned for the city and asked respondents to weigh their support for different types of projects.  The six traits are: Distance, Type of Project, Cost, Time, Disruption to activity in the neighborhood, & Benefits.

We are asking Houstonians to complete an on-line, anonymous, 3-5 minute survey about flooding in your neighborhood so the city can best respond to needs in your immediate area. These completed surveys will enable the Rice University Flood Research Team to conduct neighborhood level analyses and observe opinions about proposed hurricane mitigation projects.

Go to https://riceuniversity.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_abHEEp6aY15BjuJ to take this quick survey and let us know about the needs in your neighborhood.
