City of Houston Planning and Development Department Wins Award for Old Sixth Ward Historic District Preservation Effort

The Planning and Development Department staff along with the Houston Archaeological and Historic Commission (HAHC) received the American Planning Association, Houston Chapter 2007 Adaptive Re-Use/Historic Preservation award for the creation of the Old Sixth Ward protected Historic District. The Old Sixth Ward represents the greatest concentration of historic homes in the City of Houston, and the creation of this district will prevent the demolition of any historic home as determined by Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission. For more information on the Old Sixth Ward and other historic districts, go to www.houstonplanning.com and select Historic Preservation.
