January 17, 2013 Proposed Changes to Precious Metals Ordinance The Houston Police Department (HPD) has proposed changes to the Precious Metals Section of the City of Houston Code of Ordinances. The proposed changes were initially discussed at the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee Meeting on August 28, 2012. After receiving feedback from attendees at that meeting, some revisions were made. HPD will be presenting the amended proposal at the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee. Make sure to leave your email address and comments in the feedback section. Monetary losses from jewelry-related crimes have risen as the value of precious metals has increased.
