July 10, 2013 ReBuild Houston Project Underway in the Briar Park Community The Piping Rock Concrete Panel Replacement Project, located between Briarview and Joel Wheaton, will improve streets in the area by repairing the existing deteriorating roadway. The project is scheduled to begin in mid-July 2013 and is expected to be completed by the end of July 2013. A concrete street has separations between each section of concrete from when the street was originally constructed. The area between these separations is called a concrete panel. A concrete panel replacement involves removing an old concrete panel and then replacing it with new concrete. During this process motorists will notice lane closures around the repair areas and are urged to drive cautiously through these active work zones. The ReBuild Houston Initiative is the City of Houston's voter approved plan to rebuild drainage and street infrastructure. ReBuild Houston helps improve the quality of life and mobility for residents through the reconstruction and proper maintenance of drainage and street improvements. This project is an active example of ReBuild Houston at work to better serve you. For questions email Tracy Samuel at tracy.samuel@houstontx.gov or call 713.843.5483.
