October 13, 2009 Two Invitations for Green Building Events NASA Green Building TOUR: You are invited to attend the next tour in a series of public tours of green buildings here in Houston. Different than the previous Green Tours, this will take place as part of NASA's Ballunar Festival on Saturday, October 24, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Johnson Space Center at NASA, on NASA Road 1 in Clear Lake, Houston, Texas 77027. Please visit www.houstontx.gov/mayor/leedtour.pdf for more details and a website link. Shuttle buses will take visitors by two LEED Certified buildings and six LEED registered buildings, stopping at an Office Building designed to achieve LEED Gold that will feature exhibits for the public to see. The entry fee is $10.00 per vehicle, so carpooling could save money! Be sure and see the Saturn 5 Rocket and Apollo display, as well. Green Building PROGRAM: You are invited to attend the Home Energy Rating System & Audits program presented at the Public Works & Engineering Green Building Resource Center. The program features three speakers and will take place at the Code Enforcement Building, 3300 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002 from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009. See https://www.greenhoustontx.gov/hers.pdf for more details and a map. Green buildings save owners and users money with greater energy efficiency. They are better for our environment with more reuse of material. Ultimately, they foster a happier and healthier workplace for employees. The Green Building Resource Center is registered to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for commercial interiors and is hosting periodic programs to inform the public about green building practices. We welcome your participation in this event and your interest and support for green building efforts across Houston. We are limited to 75 attendees, so please RSVP to Steve Stelzer at 713-535-7508 or e-mail at steve.stelzer@cityofhouston.net.
