Public Comment Period Extended Regarding
Hurricane Ike Recovery Non-Housing Funds

The City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering Department (PWE) is extending the public comment period for the non-housing (infrastructure) portion of the City's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery Round 2 application until 8 p.m. on December 20, 2011. Comments should be submitted to Carol Haddock, PWE, Planning and Development Division, 611 Walker, 18th Floor, Houston, Texas 77002 or emailed to PWEgrants@houstontx.gov.

The full application is available for review at: www.publicworks.houstontx.gov/planning/ikerecovery.html, and at the Central Branch of the Houston Public Library located at 500 McKinney, Houston, Texas 77002.

Public Hearing on the
Fair Housing Activity Statement - Texas (FHAST)

As a requirement for the Disaster Recovery Round 2, Phase 2 Application, the City of Houston will hold a Public Hearing to discuss the City's Fair Housing Activity Statement - Texas (FHAST) approved by the General Land Office.

Please join the Housing and Community Development Department (HCDD) and PWE for a joint public hearing on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the City Hall Annex City Council Chambers, located at 900 Bagby Street, Houston, Texas 77002 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

For public transportation to City Hall Annex, use METRO bus lines: 6, 18, 36, 40, 50.

The public is invited to provide comments on any proposed changes to the City's FHAST by:

  1. Attending the public hearing and signing up to provide comments; or
  2. Mailing written comments to Peggy Colligan, HCDD, 601 Sawyer Street, Houston, Texas 77007.

The public has until 4 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2012, to submit comments for FHAST. The FHAST and the public hearing announcement can be found on the HCDD website at www.houstontx.gov/housing.
