March 18, 2014 City of Houston, National Weather Service Offers The City of Houston Office of Emergency Management, in partnership with Houston Public Library, and the National Weather Service Houston/Galveston Forecast Office will host two National Weather Service SKYWARNR training classes. SKYWARNR is a national program which enhances the ability of local weather forecasters by training residents on how to identify and report severe weather conditions. SKYWARNR storm spotters are often the best source of information for NWS forecasters when severe weather occurs. The information provided by trained SKYWARNR spotters has been instrumental in helping communities respond to severe weather by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service.
