The Houston Empowerment Centers Financial Empowerment Centers (FECs) offer professional, one-on-one financial counseling and coaching as a free public service. Professionally trained FEC counselors help residents manage their money, pay down debt, increase savings, establish and build credit, and access safe and affordable mainstream banking products.
The City of Houston’s Financial Empowerment Centers (FECs) are located in Complete Communities of Acres Home and Magnolia-Park Manchester. The FECs are staffed by professionally-trained financial counselors who will help individuals and families to better manage their finances, pay down debt, increase savings, establish and build credit, and access safe and affordable mainstream banking products. The Alliance for Multicultural Community Services employs the financial counselors and manages the day-to-day operations of the program.
Due to COVID-19, the Houston Financial Empowerment Centers (HFEC) are currently not meeting in-person; however the HFECs know that supporting residents in managing their finances is a critical part of dealing with the impacts of COVID-19. As a part of the City of Houston’s emergency response efforts, the HFEC Financial Empowerment Centers (FEC) are offering professional remote financial counseling sessions to all residents as a free public service.

The telephone contact number is monitored by a live HFEC staff member during business hours. Voice messages and emails are returned the same day, usually within an hour. Afterhours contacts are returned the next business day.
