Project Milestone

Project Milestone provides parents of children 0-36 months enrolled in WIC and immunization clinics with basic assistance, such as enrollment in insurance, access to a medical home, and the knowledge needed to help solve their child’s health needs.

This program is designed to:

  • Increase immunization and consistent medical care for every child.
  • Establish medical homes.
  • Assist in navigating the health and human services system.
  • Provide basic needs assistance.
  • Enroll clients in an insurance program.

Project Milestone
Many children at the Sunnyside Multi-Service Center have been enrolled in this program through WIC and are benefiting greatly by receiving the proper care needed to grow and live a healthy life. From 2007 to 2008, the immunization coverage level has increased from 74 percent to 84 percent. The Child Health Services Bureau began Project Milestone in the Sunnyside Multi-Service WIC Center and with the allocation of additional dollars in 2008, the program was expanded to the immunization clinics in the HDHHS health centers. Currently 56,227 children are enrolled in the program.
