DR. ERICA P. HOWARD, TRAINER
Dr. Howard, a native Illinoisan, former United States Navy sailor of 11 years, is a graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she continued her academic studies, earning her Master of Education in Workforce Education and Development (WED) - Adult Education. Dr. Howard’s thesis, Motivation and Determination of Nontraditional Students to Continue Higher Education contributed to the body of knowledge to understand what motivational factors were related to nontraditional students completing their undergraduate degree in an accelerated, off-campus, weekend format. After researching the various process theories of motivation and accepting a faculty position at SIUC with the Department of WED at Tyndall Air Force Base, Dr. Howard decided to pursue her Doctorate of Education Degree in Organizational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University. Her dissertation, Assisting a Church Organization with Support and Development for Single Mothers contributed to the lack of research qualifying the criticality of systems thinking. When an organization does not incorporate systems thinking and disregards any of the system’s components, the final outcome is affected.
