Erika Johnson is the Organizational Development Specialist in the Human Resources Department for the City of Houston and is responsible for organizational development and strategic partnerships initiatives. As the ODS-HR, she provides guidance and initiates strategies for many distinctive department and community projects. Throughout her career she has distinguished herself by focusing on developing innovative solutions that anticipate emerging business needs and enhance an organization’s ability to reach its strategic business objectives. She has over twelve years of experience spanning from the non-profit, private and public sector. Erika believes in the “Solution Driven” interventions and coaching that is strategic, systemic, data-driven and competency-based, with an intense emphasis on follow-up to support and sustain behavior changes. Erika was born in Houston, Texas and lived in Austria for a period of time. Her southern roots and time spent overseas broadened her sense of business both domestic and internationally. Erika actively participates in many organizations which include the Texas Diversity Council, the Gulf Coast Young Women’s Leadership Symposium, Houston Independent School District’s (HISD) Career and Technical Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Houston Find Your Path Youth Career Expo. As a strategic leader, Erika has served as the Co-Chair of the 2014 Gulf Coast Young Women’s Leadership Symposium, the Community Liaison for the HISD Career and Technical Chamber of Commerce, Board Member for the World Youth Foundation, Co-Chair of the City of Houston Youth Career Expo, and the Host for the “I Love Houston” TV Show. She was also awarded the “Influential Award” in 2014 by i10media recognizing her as one of Houston’s top 40 under 40 leaders. Her experience and expertise in leadership, team-building, problem solving, and communication are demonstrated by her continuous and successful involvement in the community and in business partnerships, including her own entrepreneurial endeavors. This young dynamic leader is a tri-vocational woman who combines her business strategist skills with her passion for community involvement and entrepreneurial endeavors. Erika studied Organizational Development at the University of Houston. Erika is also Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Erika and her husband Shane have two daughters, Chloe and Penelope, and are active members in their community and church.
