Details Announced for Rescheduled 46th Annual "Original" MLK Parade

February 5, 2024 -- The City of Houston and the Black Heritage Society Inc. will partner to present the rescheduled 46th Annual "Original" MLK Parade. The parade was rescheduled last month due to the winter freeze.

The parade will take place on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10 a.m. in Downtown Houston, beginning at the corner of Smith and McKinney in front of Houston's City Hall. This year's parade theme is "Brotherly Love is the Strongest Advocacy for Peace, Freedom, and Justice for All."

Join in honoring and celebrating Dr. King in Black History Month and reflect on the incredible contributions and achievements of African Americans and others throughout history.
The Black Heritage Society Inc. is excited to honor leaders who continue the legacy of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a champion of civil rights.

The 46th "Original" MLK Jr. Parade will be led by Attorney Benjamin Crump, ESQ, a civil rights lawyer, who will serve as the Grand Marshal. Commissioner Adrián Garcia and Pastor Walter August Jr. will also serve as co-Grand Marshals for the 46th Annual "Original" MLK Jr. Parade. These individuals exemplify brotherly love and selflessness, critical qualities of civil rights leaders. Teresa Brewer, the President of the Society, stated that civil rights leaders live to help those in need."
