Living Wage for Airport Workers
August 12, 2026 -- Mayor John Whitmire signed an executive order increasing the hourly wage for contract workers at Houston's airports.
Houston's airport workers are often the first people visitors meet and the last they see before returning home. This executive order raises wages for contract workers to $20 per hour, with scheduled increases reaching $23 by 2028. Their work and their family's matter.
