Mayor Whitmire Secures New Car for UH Student
October 09, 2026 -- As he promised, Houston Mayor John Whitmire helped secure a new car for University of Houston student Abigail Trujillo. After they visited Friday afternoon in the Mayor's office at City Hall, they stepped outside so the Mayor could hand Trujillo the keys to her new Honda Civic.
Trujillo's damaged car was paid off with the help of the Houston Police Officers' Union and the Mayor. Anonymous donors and Mayor Whitmire helped Trujillo secure a new car. No taxpayer funds were used.
