The sculpture was given to the City of Houston to represent goodwill and friendship between the Chinese and American peoples.
Wang began work on the sculpture on February 21st, 2009. On May 6th, 2009, the clay statue was molded into a rubber model and was sent to a foundry in Bastrop to be cast in bronze.
