Suzanne Hummel

Address: 2600 W. Alabama

Date: November 13, 1992

On Friday, November 13, 1992, The victim now known as Suzanne Hummel had just exited a fast food restaurant drive thru and drove into a Rice Market parking lot at 2600 W. Alabama. While in the parking lot, an unknown suspect approached Suzanne Hummel's vehicle. The witnesses reported hearing gunshots. Suzanne Hummel's vehicle is slowly rolling forward. Witnesses rush to aid Suzanne Hummel. Hummel tells the witnesses a black female shot her. Hummel's purse is found to be missing. Hummel was transported to Ben Taub hospital and pronounced deceased during surgery. There is one black female suspect, and possibly a white car description with no other information at this time.

Marcus Jacques Proctor

Date: July 2, 2016

On Saturday, July 2, 2016, at approximately 2:05 am, several witnesses heard a gunshot coming from the 3300 block of Jewel Street. As the neighbors came out of their home's they noticed a red Hyundai had crashed into another parked vehicle. They then noticed the driver of the red Hyundai appeared to have been wounded by a gunshot. The driver was later identified as Marcus Jacques Proctor who was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead. Witnesses observed a tall, slim black male with baggy clothing walking on Gregg Street, away from the scene, just after the shooting.

Marcus was from Crowley, Louisiana and was known in Houston as "LA". His family described him as a loving and caring son, father, and brother. Marcus joined the United States Marine Corp in 1993. Marcus moved to the Houston area in 2002, where he had two sons that he loved dearly. In addition, he was a graduate from the Commonwealth School of Funeral Services.

Type of crime: Capital Murder

Address: 5323 W. Orem Houston, Texas Type of location: Convenience store

Date: 12/24/1989 Time: 7:15 PM – 7:30 PM.

Bassam Saah worked as a store clerk at the Budget Store food mart he and his brother owned. Saah was last seen alive at approximately 7:15PM, by a witness leaving the store. At approximately 7:30 PM, two witnesses entered the store and observed an open register and money on the floor with no clerk behind the counter. The witnesses called police and the police found Saah behind the store counter. The body was not visible from the customer side of the counter. Saah sustained several gunshot wounds and died at the scene. The two witnesses stated observed from across the street what appeared to be a B/M running east on the strip center, The male running was described as a young B/M, 5’09, tall, slim build, wearing blue jeans and dark colored trench coat and black tennis shoes.

Date: June 20, 2014

On Friday, June 20, 2014, Pedro Diaz had been at his Refresqueria Azteca Chill refreshments business located at 74 Aldine Bender Road. After an uneventful evening at the business, Mr. Diaz left the business sometime after 9:00 pm. Mr. Diaz left in his vehicle and traveled east on Mill Stream Lane, a residential street, going to his home. Mr. Diaz approached the intersection of Mill Stream Lane and Imperial Valley Drive and stopped at the stop sign. It was then that at least two suspects approached Mr. Diaz’s vehicle. In an attempt to either rob and/or carjack Mr. Diaz, he was shot without provocation.

Upon arrival, Houston Police officers found Mr. Diaz lying, fatally wounded, on the street near the side of his vehicle. Mr. Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene.  Witnesses interviewed did report hearing two gunshots and seeing at least two suspects running from the scene.

Date: May 9, 2000

On Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at approximately 11:10 a.m., Kenisha Dixon was inside of her apartment alone when an unknown individual knocked on her door. Kenisha answered the door and without provocation was immediately shot. Kenisha fell to the ground fatally wounded and was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was apparent that Kenisha feared for her safety because she had answered the door with a gun in hand. Evidence recovered at the scene included a handgun found lying in close proximity to her.     

Kenisha had only moved into this apartment two months earlier and did not have a boyfriend. However, a male room-mate did live with her and was the one who claimed ownership of the recovered handgun. Investigators were able to ascertain valuable information while conducting a canvas, interviewing residents of the apartment complex and others.

Date: March 12, 1989

On the night of Saturday, March 11, 1989, Ramon Aguilar had arrived to work at the Odell Mikel Trucking and Storage Company. Mr. Aguilar was a security guard working as the night watchman for this company. Employees interviewed stated that two of them had left between 9:45 and 10:00 pm this same night. These two employees reported last seeing Mr. Aguilar in the office prior to them leaving.

In the morning of Sunday, March 12, 1989, employees arriving for work did not see Mr. Aguilar or his truck. However, they noticed blood near the office. An immediate search throughout the company grounds began. Shortly thereafter Mr. Aguilar’s body was found fatally wounded.

Date: May 13, 1980

On Tuesday, May 13, 1980, at approximately 9:30 pm, Mr. Floyd Denman was in his second floor apartment. Witnesses reported overhearing Mr. Denman in conversation with an unknown number of males. Shortly thereafter, shots rang out and as witnesses exited their respective apartments, they discovered Mr. Denman lying, on the second floor apartment landing, just outside his apartment door.

Upon arrival, Houston Police officers found Mr. Denman lying at the door of his apartment. Despite being transported to a local hospital, Mr. Denman died at the hospital.  Witnesses interviewed did report hearing several gunshots and people, possibly males running from the scene.

Joe Edward Moses born in 1937, owned and operated the Crosstimbers Drive Inn Store located at 740 Crosstimbers.  Joe was well known in the surrounding area where the store was located and still working.  On Saturday, March 8, 2008, just before 10:00 a.m. Joe was found by a customer behind the counter the apparent victim of a store robbery and what appeared to be a violent struggle.  Joe was transported to the hospital by HFD, but died at the hospital.

Investigators spoke to numerous individuals in the immediate area and to the customer who found Joe.   No information was discovered that identified any suspects or how many suspect may have been involved.

Date: June 7, 1997 Time: 7:45 AM

On Saturday, June 7, 1997, at approximately 7:45 a.m., a security guard was making his rounds at the shuttered Alief General Hospital when he noticed a boarded up doorway ajar. This doorway led into the closed and abandoned hospital. Upon his investigation into the open doorway, he discovered the body of a female. The police were called and the initial scene investigation was conducted. Later, the female was identified as Erica Ann Garcia.

On Friday, June 6, 1997 between 9 and 9:30 pm, Erica Garcia and a female friend were dropped off at a local teen club. Shortly thereafter, both left this club and went to a nearby apartment and met up with individuals that Erica knew. After remaining there for a while, both returned to the teen club only to return to this same apartment from where they came. Soon thereafter, the friend left for home and Erica remained.

Erica was last seen at the nearby Bachatu Grill Club located at 11107 Bellaire with some acquaintances.

Date: November 19, 1981 Time: 12:15 AM

On Thursday, November 19, 1981, at approximately 12:15 a.m., As closing time approached at the J & J bar, the bar employee, Sara (Sally) Earwood began the process of closing down for the night.  It was during this time; Sara was attacked and stabbed multiple times by her assailant.  Evidence shows the attack began inside the bar.  Sara managed to make it outside and collapsed in the parking lot where she succumbed to her injuries.  The bar owner, William Goodrum drove to the bar to check on Sara. This is when he found Sara in the parking lot.  Goodrum called 911.  The cash from the bar was missing.  Detectives spoke with nearby residents and were unable to locate any eyewitnesses.  The J & J bar is located at 10300 Fulton in north Houston.  There is no current suspect information.

Date: 09/09/2006 Time: 10:00 PM

Miguel Escobar arrived home in his custom Chevrolet Tahoe,  Escobar was approached by possibly four unknown males in a maroon pick-up truck.   Witnesses describe hearing an argument and a gunshot.  Miguel was found in the back yard on 10176 Larry street.  Miguel Escobar sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and died from his injuries.  Miguel’s Tahoe was stolen and later found across town, behind a church at 5500 Triway.  The vehicle was stripped of its expensive rims and tires as well as other items inside the vehicle.

Friday, December 29, 1989

On Friday, December 29, 1989, at approximately 7:15 am, a female employee arriving to work at the (then) Charter Bank Building observed the body of the complainant lying partially in the shrubbery and on the sidewalk leading to the office building. She immediately called 911 to report want she had observed.

Houston Police officers responded to the scene and ascertained that the female was dead. Detectives called to the scene determined that the female had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Detectives found no positive identification on the complainant and despite attempts to have her identified via her finger prints, all attempts were met with negative results. This female remains unidentified.

Detectives described this female as being Hispanic, approximately 16 to 22 years of age, standing approximately 5’4” and weighing approximately 160 pounds. She had long wavy black hair and was wearing a white t-shirt, black “Lee” jeans, black socks, and black “Coasters” brand shoes.

On Monday, August 3, 1992, Tara Breckenridge worked her evening shift as a waitress at the Men’s Club. Tara’s shift led her to work just past midnight into Tuesday, August 4, 1992. At approximately 1 o’clock, in the morning, now Tuesday, August 4. 1992, Tara drove off from the club in her red Pontiac Fiero.  

On Tuesday, August 4, 1992, at approximately 5 o’clock in the morning, Tara’s live in boyfriend, after having worked himself until 3:30 in the morning and then going out with some friends was driven home by a friend. Upon his arrival home, he discovered that Tara was not home. Both the boyfriend and this friend reportedly began to search for her and despite going to her place of employment they were unable to locate her. The boyfriend reported that upon their drive back home, he located her abandoned car along the freeway (1200 West Loop North). At approximately 7:30 in the morning, the boyfriend called and reported this to the police.

Tara Breckenridge was nowhere to be found and has not been seen since driving off from the Men’s Club in her red Pontiac Fiero.

On Monday, October 26, 1998, at approximately 7:20 a.m., As Peggy Lynn Howard exited her condominium with her 6 year old daughter; she was shot two times in the complex parking lot.  The victim’s daughter observed the entire incident.  Witnesses heard the gunshots and observed a young Hispanic male run from the crime scene and out of the parking lot.  The Hispanic male suspect then entered the front passenger’s seat of a black two door vehicle and fled the area.  The Brandy Creek condominium complex is a gated complex located at the 3900 block of Tanglewilde in west Houston, Texas.   Peggy Howard was transported to Ben Taub hospital and pronounced dead.  There is no current information leading to the identification of the Hispanic male suspect responsible for this murder.

Suspect #1: Hispanic  Male, thin mustache, slim build, purple and green sports jacket “starter”, dark colored baseball cap, backpack possibly blue, approximately 12-15 years old, approximately 5’00-5’02 tall.

Suspect #2: Hispanic Male, young, no age given.

Vehicle: late 80’s model, black, 2 door, Chevrolet Cavalier, minor dent front left quarter panel.

June 23, 1998 / 1000 hours 

On Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a motorist traveling on Scarsdale Blvd. saw what he believed to be the body of a female lying in the drainage ditch along Scardale Blvd. The motorist called for police and upon their arrival, it was confirmed, the body of Judy Tijerina had been found.

Judy Tijerina was employed at the Amazona Club located at 2728 South Richey in Houston. On Monday, June 22, 1998, despite it being her day off, Judy went to the Amazona club, remaining there late into the night. Later, she left to JR’s club located down the street at 3435 South Richey and there she remained, exiting the club close to this club’s closing time at 2 am.

Judy was last seen standing outside the driver’s side window, talking to a male while he sat in his car outside JR’s club.

Lover's Lane Case

Bayou Mama’s Nightclub
August 22, 1990 / 10:45 p.m.

On August 22, 1990, Cheryl Henry and Andy Atkinson were last seen at Bayou Mama’s Nightclub around 10:45 p.m.  The next day, neither one reported to work, so a missing person’s report was filed.

A Sysco Food Security Guard located Atkinson’s abandoned vehicle in the 1300 block of Enclave Round, part of an undeveloped business park.  The Houston Police Department was notified and a search of the area was conducted.

The nude body of Cheryl Henry was located.  Andy Atkinson was later found not far from the body of Henry.  They both were brutally murdered.

In August 2001 a DNA profile from a sexual assault matched the DNA evidence from this case.  The victim of the sexual assault provided Detectives with a sketch of the possible suspect.

The Missing Person case of Catherine Hammel remains unsolved and open.  In March of 1998 Catherine was living in the 1200 block of Wilcrest and working at the 24-Hour Fitness facility in the 12000 block of Westheimer. 

On March 23, 1998, Catherine was feeling ill and obtained a ride home with another 24-Hour Fitness employee arriving home around 2:00 p.m.  Catherine was reported to be living with her boyfriend, the father of Catherine’s daughter, who reported that he last saw Catherine at home.  He left for a short time and upon his return Catherine was not at home. 

Catherine Hammel has not been seen since the time her boyfriend last saw her on March 23, 1998.

Mrs. Connie Montez

September 4, 1981 / 0230 hours

On Friday, September 4, 1981, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Mrs. Connie Montez was shot and killed during a robbery at the Buckhorn Lounge, which was located at 12238 Hempstead Road, in Houston, Texas. During the robbery two unknown white male suspects entered the lounge wielding pistols and demanded money. Mrs. Montez was working as an employee of the lounge and got into a struggle with one of the men during the robbery. One of the suspects shot Mrs. Montez and fled the location with the second suspect along with a large sum of money. Mrs. Montez died at the location from the gunshot wounds. There is no information leading to the identification of the two unknown white male suspects responsible for this murder.

December 10, 1985 / 1500 hrs

On December 10, 1980 the body of a young African American Female was discovered in the 3600 block of Stokes. The found female was lying on the ground under interstate 45 freeway located about six miles from downtown Houston alongside a railroad track.

The body was discovered by employees working on an outdoor advertisement billboard, after noticing a foot sticking out from under the mattress. There were two thin gold bracelets and one orange bracelet found on her left wrist, and two necklaces around her neck. The complainant has never been identified.

Houston Police Department sketch artists, Lois Gibson, completed a composite of her morgue photo as a depiction of what she may look like. The jewelry is being shown to help in the identity of this murder victim.
