Incident at 8878 Hammerly August 6, 2007 - Mr. Cruz and his passenger picked up two stranded motorists and drove them to a bar located in a shopping center on Hammerly. When Cruz parked his vehicle, one of the stranded motorists exited the car, leaving Cruz and two others in the vehicle. Two male suspects, armed with handguns, approached the vehicle and demanded the passengers get out and at some point during the incident, Cruz was shot by one of the suspects. The two suspects are described only as Hispanic males in their late teens or early twenties. They were seen leaving in a dark-colored four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan or a Mazda. It is believed a third individual of unknown description was driving the suspects’ vehicle.
