Update on Incident at 7219 Kings Gate Circle

August 21, 2007 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 7219 Kings Gate Circle on November 28, 2006.

Pedro Leon Shepherd (b/m, DOB: 4-4-80) was arrested today (August 21) in the 9700 block of Leawood without incident. He is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court and accused in the killing of Lanathan Johnson, 23, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officers D. Vasquez and J. Selvera reported:

HPD officers responded to a shooting call at 7219 Kings Gate Circle after witnesses reported hearing about ten gunshots in the area. Mr. Johnson was seen running and collapsing in a breezeway of the apartment complex. A preliminary investigation revealed this shooting was committed during a drug-related robbery.

Further investigation and statements from witnesses produced a suspect, later identified as Shepherd.
