Incident at 10333 East Freeway

August 26, 2007 - Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect(s) wanted in the attempted capital murder of a police officer at 10333 East Freeway about 1:10 a.m. today (Aug. 26).

The wanted suspect(s) is believed to have been inside a silver or gray 4-door 1993-1994 Isuzu Rodeo with tinted windows.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants C. W. Howard, M. W. McStravick, A. Carrillo and Officer H. A. Chavez reported:

A University of Houston Downtown police officer was eating at a local restaurant when an unknown suspect(s), possibly driving west on the East Freeway, fired multiple shots in the vicinity of the establishment. One of the bullets struck the officer while sitting inside the restaurant. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
