August 31, 2007 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another at 8500 Winkler about 6 a.m. today (Aug. 31).

Phillip Leon Monroe (b/m, DOB: 6-2-88) faces charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in connection with the killing of his friend, Harold Hadnott, 19, of 11710 Bay Cedar, and wounding of a male robbery victim. Hadnott suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Hadnott and Monroe were robbing a male at 8500 Winkler when Hadnott was shot by one of the robbery victims. Monroe then shot one of the victims he and Hadnott tried to rob. That victim, a 47-year-old man, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Monroe then pulled Hadnott to his vehicle and started to drive him home. Instead, the two drove to Houston Fire Department Station #55 at 11100 Cullen Boulevard. Hadnott was pronounced dead by paramedics at the fire station.

Investigators consulted with the Harris County District Attorney’s office and determined that felony charges of aggravated robbery would be filed against Monroe.
