Traffic Incident at 13400 Northwest Freeway Service Road December 17, 2007 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 13400 block of the Northwest Freeway (Highway 290) service road about 12:40 a.m. today (Dec. 17). The male victim, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer D. Hall reported: The victim was driving a white Ford Mustang on the inbound service road of the Northwest Freeway when he lost control and drove onto the grass on the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree, causing major damage to the driver’s side door. A witness told investigators a passenger in the vehicle fled on foot immediately following the accident.
