Update on Incident at 5121 South Willow Drive #19 June 20, 2007 - Capital murder charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a newborn baby at 5121 South Willow Drive #19 about 9:30 a.m. on Sunday (June 10). The suspect, Claudia Cortez (H/f, DOB: 1/15/84), is charged with capital murder in the 209th State District Court. HPD Homicide Division Sergeants B.E. Roberts and E. Gonzalez reported: Cortez gave birth to a baby girl in the early morning hours and was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital claiming she had a miscarriage. The newborn was found deceased inside Cortez’ apartment. An autopsy revealed that the child died from strangulation. Cortez is in custody at the Harris County jail.
