TRAFFIC INCIDENT AT 6700 SOUTHWEST FREEWAY SERVICE ROAD

November 2, 2007 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6700 block of the Southwest Freeway (Highway 59 South) service road northbound about 4:45 a.m. today (November 2).

The male victim was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. A second occupant was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition with head injuries. His condition is stable at this time.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer A. Alaniz reported:

A 1999 gold Suzuki Grand Vitara, occupied by a driver and a passenger, was traveling east on the Southwest Freeway service road and attempted to enter the freeway entrance ramp at the last minute. The driver struck the median and lost control of the vehicle, which then rolled several times. The victim was ejected from the vehicle. The second occupant was transported to the hospital.

It has not been determined if the victim was the driver or the passenger.

No other vehicles were involved in this incident.

The investigation is continuing.
