Update on Incident at 10534 Beechnut September 1, 2007 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 10534 Beechnut about 7 p.m. on August 19, 2007. The suspect, Kenneth Lane Beckett (b/m, DOB: 6/8/82), is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Albert Devon Jones, 34, of 10555 Spice Lane #1201, who suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.C. Padilla and Officer A. Ibarra reported: Officers responded to a shooting call at the Lenox Court Apartments and arrived to find Mr. Jones had been transported to the hospital. Witnesses stated they heard multiple gunshots in the area but could not identify any suspects. A follow-up investigation led investigators to identify Beckett as the suspect in this case. Homicide investigators, assisted by officers with the Southwest Division Tactical Unit, arrested Beckett on Friday (August 31) at his residence at 10534 Beechnut without incident.
